  • Unhealing sore

The possible cause of Type 1 diabetes is still unknown, yet it is known that the body’s immune system instead of fighting harmful bacteria and viruses, by mistake destroys the insulin-producing cells in your pancreas. So it is considered an autoimmune disease. Other causes may be the followings,

  • Genetics

  • kidneys, and
  • other organs.

Treatment for Type 1 diabetes

Normally people with type 1 diabetes can live long and healthy lives, only they have to keep a close eye on the levels of blood sugar. If you suffer from type 1 diabetes, your body will not produce insulin on its own. So, you will be in a need of taking insulin and helping your body to use the sugar in your blood. Other treatment which can be beneficial in treating or controlling the symptoms of type 1 diabetes may also be used.

If you are a patient of type 1 diabetes, you will need to use insulin on regular basis, and you can take insulin through an injection. You can also take insulin by using an insulin pump. The pump will inject insulin into your skin through a port. This method can be easier than sticking with a needle.

The amount of inulin intake depends on the blood sugar level, you need to test your blood sugar level regularly so that you can find out how much insulin you need. Other than insulin, your diet and exercise both can affect your blood sugar levers.

Another type of medication that can be used for treating type 1 diabetes includes Metformin. It is an oral diabetes medication. Metformin was used by people who had type 2 diabetes, however, in some people with type 1 diabetes a resistance for insulin is developed, this shows that the insulin which they take through injection does not work as it should.

So, metformin helps in lowering the sugar in the blood by minimizing or reducing the production of sugar in the blood. One thing you have to know is that only use metformin in addition to insulin if you are advised by your doctor!

Another treatment for type 1 diabetes may be the use of the tuberculosis vaccine. Studies have found that the blood sugar levels of some people stabilize for five years who received two injections of the Bacillus Calmette- Guerin vaccine

This option of type 1 diabetes treatment is still under testing and is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration, so it is not available in the market yet. Still, it looks promising for the treatment of type 1 diabetes in the future!

Food intake and exercise

The other useful ways which can serve as a treatment to control type 1 diabetes probably the proper diet and exercise. If you are a victim of type 1 diabetes, you should eat regular meals and snacks so that your blood sugar level remains stable. Your dietitian can help you to make an eating plan.

In addition to a proper diet, regular exercise also helps to lower your blood sugar levels. And according to your exercise level, the amounts of insulin you take also need to be adjusted.

Ways to prevent type 1 diabetes

Type 1diabetes has no known ways which you can use to prevent it. However, researchers are trying to figure out the ways of preventing the disease or any more destruction of the islets cells. The fact is, one cannot prevent type 1 diabetes, not even your doctors can tell that who will get this disease and who will not, because no one knows what causes type 1 diabetes.
